“A celebration of form, tradition, and quiet luxury.”
This grand-scale celadon vase set brings together two iconic Korean silhouettes—the Maebyeong and the Jubyeong—each reimagined through delicate openwork carving and the traditional white slip technique. Standing at approximately 42 cm tall, the commanding height of each piece ensures it draws the eye whether placed on the floor, in an entryway alcove, or as a centrepiece within a cabinet.
Across their surfaces, hand-carved peony blossoms and leaves unfold with lyrical grace. Every detail is pierced individually by hand, a process that requires both technical mastery and calm precision, as the removal of clay adds fragility before firing. Soft celadon glaze fills each contour, while subtle touches of white slip and red pigment highlight the vitality of each petal.
The Maebyeong—with its generous shoulders and slender neck—welcomes long branches or seasonal blossoms, such as plum, which symbolise quiet strength and new beginnings. The Jubyeong, more refined in shape, once held fine liquids such as wine or tea. Today, their pairing offers visual harmony and symbolic richness.
When positioned in a softly lit corner or beside a sun-dappled wall, the carved forms invite interplay between shadow and surface. They do not simply decorate a space—they animate it.
More than functional forms, these vases are the result of enduring Korean craftsmanship, where time, discipline, and sensitivity to tradition converge in every curve.
Due to the handmade nature of this set, slight variations in glaze, pattern, or form may occur, adding individuality and charm to each piece.
