Celadon Vase with Double-Wall Chilbo Openwork and Inlaid Chrysanthemum Motif

This exceptional celadon vase is the result of a highly demanding technique known as the double-wall openwork method (ijung tugak). Within the body lies an inner chamber, while the outer layer is meticulously pierced into a lattice of tiny windows, requiring absolute precision at every stage. Any flaw in thickness or alignment could cause the piece to collapse during firing, making each successful creation an achievement of rare skill and perseverance.

The surface feels as alive as it looks—a field of miniature sculptures where light drifts through the openwork and settles softly into shadow. Between the lattices, chilbo-inspired crimson dots are rendered evenly with red earth, adding a quiet vibrancy and depth to the serene celadon glaze.

Above and below the pierced body, inlaid chrysanthemum motifs are carefully applied using the traditional sanggam technique. The blossoms, timeless symbols of dignity and renewal, are contrasted with the airy openness of the openwork, bringing the vase into a harmonious balance between intricacy and repose.

Shaped in the form of a maebyeong, with its generous shoulders and slender neck, the vase invites seasonal branches or blossoms—plum, especially, evoking quiet strength and the promise of new beginnings.

Shipment processing time

• All orders are aimed to be processed within 5 daye after receipt of payment. Orders are not shipped on weekends and holidays.

Shipping rates and delivery estimates

• All orders are shipped by K-Packet, Air mail, EMS, Express Courier (UPS, Fedex, DHL Etc).
• K-Packet shipping is basic shipping service. K-Packet estimated shipping time is 14-21 days, depending on your region. If weight is over 2kg, K-packet service would be converted to Air Mail.
• EMS estimated shipping time is 7-14 days, depending on your region. Please note that Air Mail shipping method may not be available for all countries.
• Express Courier estimated shipping time is 5-10 days.
• Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
• Parcels are sent tracked where possible, and you will receive an automated email with a tracking number once your order is processed.
