Made by Kim Sang-yoon, this vertical mother-of-pearl panel sets a pine tree and cranes against a dark ground that steadies the composition and allows iridescence to appear in restrained intervals. As with the other panels in the series, the surface is shaped through a balanced meeting of approaches: thinly sliced shell pieces are assembled to draw needles, twigs, and feather lines with disciplined precision, while larger shell pieces—kept close to their natural contour—are placed where form needs presence, most notably in the cranes’ bodies and selected passages of the trunk. This creates a gentle relief: depth that does not protrude, but becomes legible as light moves across the day.

The scene is composed with deliberate calm. One crane lifts into the open space above, while two remain poised on the pine—motion held in suspension, stillness made attentive. The pine’s diagonal sweep anchors the vertical field, and the shell’s cooler notes—silvers, pale greens, faint violets—glide in and out of view rather than insisting on constant brilliance.

In Korean visual culture, the pine is a long-standing emblem of endurance and longevity, prized for remaining green through winter. The crane, likewise, carries associations of longevity and a kind of purified grace; together the two motifs form a paired wish for a life lived with steadiness and time. The symbolism here is not declared as promise, but held as atmosphere—an image of continuity, quietly maintained.

Framed in warm wood with a linen mount, the panel reads as a composed presence on the wall. In lower light it settles into silhouette and line; under stronger light the shell briefly opens, then returns to shadow, as though the surface were breathing.

In the rare event that an item is damaged or lost during transit, we will resend the item at no extra cost to you or issue a full refund immediately upon verification of the damage.

• 14-Day Return Policy: Merchandise can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of receipt if the product has not been opened or used and remains in its original packaging.

Shipment processing time

• All orders are aimed to be processed within 5 days after receipt of payment. Orders are not shipped on weekends and holidays.

Shipping rates and delivery estimates

• All orders are shipped by K-Packet, Air mail, EMS, Express Courier (UPS, Fedex, DHL Etc).
• K-Packet shipping is basic shipping service. K-Packet estimated shipping time is 14-21 days, depending on your region. If weight is over 2kg, K-packet service would be converted to Air Mail.
• EMS estimated shipping time is 7-14 days, depending on your region. Please note that Air Mail shipping method may not be available for all countries.
• Express Courier estimated shipping time is 5-10 days.
• Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
• Parcels are sent tracked where possible, and you will receive an automated email with a tracking number once your order is processed.

Damages

• Please note that your parcel may be subjected to the customs of your country when it arrived in. And the customs duty is the recipient’s responsibility.
