This handcrafted mother-of-pearl wall clock (자개 매조문 벽걸이 시계) is a quiet celebration of spring’s resilience—featuring a delicate plum blossom and bird motif that has long symbolised perseverance and renewal in East Asian art.

Created with meticulous care by a master artisan in Korea, the tall, hexagonal structure becomes more than a timekeeper—it is a vertical canvas of seasonal stillness. At its centre, the minimalist clock face floats without numerals, allowing the decorative field to unfold without disruption. The hands move in graceful silence, honouring the passing of time without intruding on it.

The surface is adorned with finely inlaid mother-of-pearl—each piece cut, polished, and placed by hand. Against the deep black lacquer, plum blossoms bloom in cascading branches, their petals luminous and layered. Nestled among them, small birds rest or flutter, forming vignettes of life suspended in time. The shimmering nacre changes colour with shifting light, inviting new readings with every glance.
